Hey there, Vixens! Isis here.

I can't believe it's already been a year and some change since we've caught up! As you might have guessed, change has definitely occurred since then. I am still putting my all into The Goddess Column, doing my best to make it your favorite safe place to be unapologetically YOU!
Since we last spoke, I advanced from my position with Kontrol Magazine and focused more on freelance, independent writing. In April of this year, I self-published my first eBook, "Instant Coffee: A Collection of Articles On Life As A Twentysomething," which is available online at Barnes & Noble and Amazon! That was a major accomplishment for me and I'm currently working on my first novel which I hope to actually send out to different publishers. For more on my book writing journey, check out my author's interview.
Other projects I've worked on over the year were continuing to develop content for The Goddess Column, participating in the Layers of Beauty Blog Tour, hosted by GG Renee of All The Many Layers blog, and becoming a contributing writer for Elite Daily (which I'm most excited about)! When I applied to be a writer for Elite Daily, I allowed my negative thoughts to get the best of me at first. I had filled that application out about ten times before actually sending it in. When I finally sent it in, I hadn't heard anything back for a while, which discouraged me even more. Then on a rainy afternoon about a month after I submitted it, I received my acceptance email and I was elated.
With that, let me take a moment to encourage all the starving artists like me out there. Never quit. For a while, it will be uncomfortable, it won't bring much profit, you will lose friends--in other words, the trials will come... but stay motivated because your hard work WILL pay off. When you find yourself getting weak in the journey, feel free to reach out to me. I will send you a personal, handwritten letter of encouragement if I have to. Just promise me that you won't stop chasing that dream. Remember, there is no fault to starting over or trying new ways to reach the same goal. Never forget that I love you and I'm rooting for you every step of the way.
Here's to the dreamers, the achievers, and believers.
Peace and light, Vixens.
-Isis.
