Keeping the Distance Short Over Summer
So you went to college to get a degree, but while studying the history of Picasso, you end up mastering the art of love. A lot of relationships begin in college. With a much larger variety to choose from, as well as places to take your pick, the possibilities seem endless. But school does not last forever.
Leaving someone you fell for during your studies can be difficult. Chemistry class is over, but that doesn't mean the flame in your relationship has to lose its spark.
Here are some tips on how to keep your L.D.A. (long distance relationship) hot over summer.
Tip 1- Pick up the phone: Communication is key in all relationships. The best way to stay in touch with your college partner is by simply talking to them. For most women, this is a no brainer. Most women enjoy talking on the phone rather than determining someone's emotions over text. Men on the other hand are not as verbal. When having conversations via tele, make sure to talk about something specific like a movie you saw or a new experience. Conversations always take different turns so don't worry about not having something to say.
Tip 2- Video chat: Seeing is believing and who better to see than the person your dating? Video chatting has become extremely popular over the last year, especially for those who are at a distance. Depending on how long you and your partner have been dating, this can be easy or a bit difficult. One thing to keep in mind is that most video chats require wifi, so before you create a Skype account, make sure you have good connection.
Tip 3- Meet half way: Not every long distant relationship is on opposite ends of the world. If you and your partner live in the same state, try visiting each other or meet half way. This is a great way to see how well your relationship is outside of school, and for the ladies, take this as an opportunity to show off your summer outfit to your main guy. Planning trips like this can be time consuming and may some sometimes fall short, so always plan ahead and make sure your partner is comfortable with this decision.
So what are you waiting for? Pay your phone bill, switch to the best internet service and fill up your tank because this is going to be one hot summer! -Danille Francis
